Liko Lehua was created in collaboration with my Kumu, Camille Mahuna, as a reflection of the beautiful journey, knowledge, and legacy passed from kumu to haumāna.
One of my most treasured memories is learning from her how to carefully gather the liko lehua and skillfully weave them into a beautiful haku lei. It was more than learning a practice—it was learning patience, respect, intention, and the deeper meaning behind the traditions entrusted to us.
The experience left such a lasting impression on my heart that I wanted to preserve that memory in a special way. I asked one of my dearest friends, a gifted artist, to help bring the vision to life as a print.
Liko Lehua honors the bond between teacher and student, the beauty of ʻike passed from one generation to the next, and the cherished memories that continue to bloom long after the lei is made.
