Anthurium came to Hawaiʻi in 1889 and became the Big Island's commercial floral signature by the 1940s. Hawaiʻi grows more anthurium than anywhere else in the United States. The red heart-shaped spathe with its yellow spadix is unmistakable, scaled larger than tiare or orchid, with a glossy waxy finish that almost reads as plastic until you touch it.
A print that says "Big Island" before it says anything else.
