Lauhala is the leaf of the hala tree, dried, stripped, and woven into the mats, hats, and baskets that have furnished island homes for generations. The weave is patient work, passed hand to hand.
We drew this print in-house from the weave itself, the crossing strips and the soft green of a leaf not long off the tree. Named for the craft, and for the hands that keep it going.
